poetry

so lately i've been like dude, i like to write poems.  so i thought since i have a blog i would post a poem i wrote! so here you go:

Do You Hear the Wind?
Do you hear the wind daughter’o,
Do you hear its jokes and riddles?
Do you hear the wind daughter’o,
Do you hear it laugh and giggle?
Do you hear the wind daughter’o,
Do you hear its moans and cries?
Do you hear the wind daughter’o,
Do you hear its gimmicks and lies?

What does it tell you mother’o?
For I do not hear all of this.
What does it speak of mother’o?
You must tell me, I insist.

Do you not listen daughter’o,
Do you not try and perceive?
Do you not listen daughter’o,
Do you not try and achieve?
Do you not listen daughter’o,
Do you not search with your heart?
Do you not listen daughter’o,
The word of the wind is a piece of art.

It's here! And a thought.

spring is finally here! though i'm sure we will have one blast of cold before it is officially here, but it has been an amazing week.
today i've realized how much pleasure someone can get out of little everyday things.  like just a little while ago i took pleasure out of watching my sister's cat.  i enjoyed watching him jump on things, sit on my homework, and jump at the slightest noise.  last night i took pleasure in seeing the dark clouds pass over the ripe moon while the wind blew.  so in today's post i decided to write ten things that i take pleasure in.  ready? okay!
1. grassy hills in the spring time.
2. a rabbit nose.
3. vintage.
4. music playing while the doors and windows are open.
5. playing my guitar in the park.
6. having deep conversations with my friends.
7. watching birds at the feeder.
8. going barefoot.
9. reading fiction novels.
10. my dog rosie.  Here's a picture:

i challenge you to make a list.
and also,
happy almost spring!

snow.

so, the other night i was quietly talking on the phone with my friend when i heard a big thump on my window.  i soon discovered it was my sister, Hannah, throwing snowballs at my window.  we had just gotten about two inches of snow the night before.  pretty soon afterwards Hannah came in wanting me to go outside with her, so i did.  i bundled up in leg warmers, socks, two shirts, ect.  so when i went out Hannah wanted to show me something in the front yard, so i went.  when i got there i saw something wonderful, our flood lights were shining on to the freshly laid snow and each individual snowflake looked like a diamond sparkling. it was magnificent! of course after looking in awe at it for a little while i had to go jump in it. another thing i noticed when i went out there was how still and silent everything was, the people of the town were probably all bundled up in their homes sitting next to a cozy fire, drinking hot chocolate. it was a beautiful night.

spring please.

don't you just love the wind?  i often imagine i'm on top of a hill with tall grass arms outstretched to embrace the wind. of course in winter it's very hard to do that, expecially right now in tennessee when the wind chills are below freezing! that is why i CANNOT wait for spring. don't get me wrong though, i love winter, but there is just something about spring that seems like a fresh start. this year has been wonderful, (and by this year i mean 2010-2011) i could easily say that it was the best year i have known. although this is true, i can't help but think that i'm ready for a fresh start. this year i'm hoping for adventures to far off places and for more places with scope for the imagination! (can't you tell i'm reading anne of green gables right now?) just look at this picture that i took last summer, doesn't make you want spring even more?

what's with this blog?

i have finally concluded that i would start a blog. for a while i thought i would have nothing to say and that it would just be really boring for other people to read.  but then i thought to myself: "laura, everyone has something to say to the world, even if it's not the most important thing, people can still find enjoyment out of it".  (i probably didn't think those exact words, but you get the picture)  so here i am!
before i go off on a little bunny trail (which seems to happen a lot with me) i'm going to say a little bit of what this blob, *ahem* blog will contain.  it will mostly be about things that i find interesting such as music, pictures, poetry, ect.  but it will also have stories of random things that happened to me, or fascinating thoughts that i have.  i will also have a few things about being a homeschooler in there as well. so unless you are interested in the thoughts, feelings, and interests of a homeschooled teenager, i suggest that you stop reading.
-your humble blogger,
laura
